In this episode, Prof. Dariusz Wójcik will use maps and visuals from the first ever atlas of finance to show that the history of maps and finance have always been connected and to address fundamental questions about finance. He will demonstrate how the economy, cities and globalization have been enabled by finance and will explain the intersections of finance with faraway topics like astronomy and space. He will draw lessons from the best available data on the history of investments and their possible future. He will also share warnings about fundamental errors that can be made by financial markets and will argue that new instruments and technologies, including cryptos and AI, can transform finance, but not in the ways most people expect.
